Prada flats

I just bought these Prada flats off Ebay the other day! They're super cute but they're a little bit big. I already knew that Prada shoes fit a little big and I also anticipated them being stretched out since they were used but my 35.5 shoes make my feet look like clown feet. Oh well...they're not as bad as my Louboutin 36 flats that needed an elastic strap installed just so they could stay on my feet.

They're from the Resort 2007 collection. I also really love those royal blue peep-toe d'Orsay flats in the ad. Hopefully I'll get lucky on Ebay again.

Aritzia

I got some more things from Aritzia after work today. I've begun to realize that having a job and working in retail cancel each other out. I'll work 8 hours for minimum wage and then blow $200 on clothes. I guess that's what employment is for...making minimum payments on a credit card.

With that being said...I love my new items!

The lace dress is from the Fall collection and the kimono is a new Spring item. I can't wait to wear the detachable slip as well! I have a few pieces that require a slip. (They sell polyester slips everywhere but I only wanted silk). 

Thank god I don't have a perfect figure. I think I brought about 20 things with me into the change room but because I have an awkward figure, most of the things didn't suit me and I only ended up getting 2 (and wanting about 6). If I was tall, thin, and had a nice rack, pretty much everything would look good on me but since I'm none of those things, I have to be more selective. 

I tend not to buy:

1. Anything that makes me look fat.

2. Anything that makes me look short.

3. Anything that doesn't fit PERFECTLY. I have way too many items in my closet that just sort-of-fit.

4. Anything that makes me look yellow.

5. Anything that accentuates body parts OTHER THAN my boobs.

6. Anything trendy.

7. Anything that I don't absolutely LOVE.

You'd think that some of these rules were common sense but no, some people don't get it. Case in point, #5. WHO WOULD WEAR THIS?

This dress has made a 6 foot, size double 0 model look fat and frumpy!! And this dress is by Prada. PRADA! For fuck's sakes.

Resort 2010

Let's start the Resort 2010 post with Prada's vibrant silk-scarf sandal.

These shoes ooze spring fiesta. I really want to wear these with a white, Alexander Wang tee and a pair of ripped Current and Elliott jeans. American classic with a little bit of Italian flair.




3.1 Phillip Lim

Lace on lace. I ordered this skirt off Diavolina because the mark-up at Lane Crawford added an extra HK$1000. I love the cream and black and the enlarged lace detail. And what I like about Lim's lace skirt is that it's not the cheap, lightweight polyester lace that you see everywhere but it's a heavy rayon that hangs off the hips rather than clings to it.





Prada 

I love the heart-arabesque and the contrasting colours of the silk scarf-skirt. The tie-up skirt is such a playful addition to the preppy sweater-look. Prada always mixes different colours and various prints with such panache. Nobody does a more harlequin resort than Miuccia.




Jason Wu 

Great combination of orange and yellow against blacks and whites. I also love the subtle technicolour rainbow in the checks of the draped skirt.



Giles 

Giles' watercolour, silk creations are pieces of art in themselves. What makes this outfit special is the juxtaposition of the cool palette of the small-floral print of the top with the warm palette of the large-floral print of the skirt. I love mixing different prints together and this outfit is such a perfect example of how to mix florals correctly. And it also illustrates the ideal Resort aesthetic, that intermediate period between Winter and Spring/Summer, in that its composition is not as solemn as Fall/Winter but not as happy-go-lucky as Spring/Summer.
