Trend: The Shift Dress

I love the shift dress. It's classic, it's professional, it's sexy in a subtle way, it's a staple piece in any woman's closet. I have a couple plain ones from Club Monaco and Kay Unger along with a lot of vintage sheaths but I'm really loving how designers are reinventing the simplistic structure for Spring. To vamp up a boring shift dress, designers are throwing in some unique elements like piping, ruffles, ostrich feathers, and interesting fabrics and textures. My favorites are the two from 3.1 Phillip Lim and Zac Posen's feather creation.
